What makes Ocala special is the beauty of the area. While there are attempts being made to make things more updated and more modern, the secret to enjoying this town is hidden in its rural scenery. Ocala is a place where you could be getting off the interstate, driving into to town, and suddenly, you start passing by beautiful countryside filled with horses and neverending land. The sudden change in scenary makes you want to get out and enjoy the great outdoors, as it is too beautiful to pass up. Ocala, also known as "slow-cala", is the escape from the city that you want, that you need, as things seem to be "slowed down" and you are able to relax. My favorite part of Ocala is coming home to relax and spend time with my family. Together, we are able to enjoy the calming atmosphere of the town and escape the rush my current city (Gainesville) offers. It's like island time here!
Ocala has a lovely small-town feel. There is a beautiful downtown area with towering live oak trees and old brick buildings that is alive with excellent dining and shopping, as well as fitness centers, event venues, breweries, and more. Just outside this hub, this city is full of fun outdoor activities such as children's sports leagues, several local and state parks, beautiful lakes and rivers, and gorgeous horse farms. For those looking to shop: there are many large corporate stores and small, local boutiques to fit everyone's preferences. Equidistantly inland from either coast, it's an ideal location to avoid the famous Florida hurricanes, while still only needing to take a short trip to visit either shore. Ocala is also only a short distance from Florida's famous theme parks. An ideal location for families who enjoy a quieter lifestyle, but also want quick access to all of Florida's amazing features. Friendly people and a great family environment with plenty of job opportunities.
Where i live in Ocala is mostly fields and horses. However there is a ‘downtown’. People mostly stick to themselves so we don’t have many problems. Crimes is mostly theft. However school shootings are happening more often. The MCPS online schooling system is very poor. However they have decent in-school education. There are many private practices for health here which I suggest over hospitals. Mainly because of pricing and value of service. Plenty of restaraunts which I find very good. Not a lot of access to mental health services. Shopping is very localized. Most chains are restauraunts and clothes. The town is very close to many entertainment places/facilities. It is around 30 minutes to two hours drive to get there. But we are close to beaches, Universal, Disneyworld, and bigger shopping districts.
