As a teenager who lives in Oakton, getting around is dependent on driving other public transportation. Other than that, the shopping centers are always looking for afterschool help and always accept highschoolers to work for them. Having Tysons and Fair Oaks Mall close by is super nice!

Oakton, VA is a suburban town in Fairfax County. It has several top-rated elementary, middle, and high schools nearby. There are multiple shopping centers in Oakton with almost any cuisine restaurants you could want. There are many grocery stores (ranging from Walmart to Whole Foods). Oakton is in close proximity to entertainment centers like Mosaic District, Reston Town Center, and Old Town Alexandria. It is fairly close (16-20 miles) to central Washington, D.C. making for an easy commute for a day trip or night out. There are great running and biking trails through Oakton.
Oakton is a very safe, diverse city. Surrounded by all the best places and only about a 30 minutes drive to the capital. There's a lot to do around here. Everyone is extremely friendly and caring, it's very easy to fit in and it to feel like home. Students in Oakton go to Fairfax Country Public Schools, which is one of the top-ranked in the United States. FCPS is a very diverse, safe school county. You never have to worry about anything. Although living here can be very expensive.
