Love our small town! Great access to grocery store, hair cut, dance, eye doctor, dentist, fast food, urgent care, gas, dry cleaning and so much more. Schools are excellent and neighborhoods are friendly.

I grew up right as Oak Ridge became a town. Mostly farmland, it's a very quiet place with a strong central community. There's only one main shopping plaza, and I love the way we come together to celebrate. I actually work as one of the merchants, and we frequently have plaza-wide festivals for holidays like Halloween, where we invite kids to come trick or treat at all the stores.

Every other Thursday, there's live music outside; they block off part of the parking lot, and it's overall just a really nice place to hang out.

It's also a very safe place. It's definitely a higher dollar area, but that means no one's really in want of anything, so we're able to all come together without any theft or violence. All my neighbors look out for each other, and my neighborhood in particular is small enough that we know when someone doesn't belong.
I love the small town atmosphere. In a small community it is easy to get to know your neighbors and everone is involved in school and community events. You don't need to travel far to get to major shopping or entertainment. You can get just about anywhere in 20 minutes. You also don't need to travel but 5 minutes to get to the grocery store, pharmacy, bank, auto place, restaurants, doctor, dentist or ophthamologist.
