The Oak Park, Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks area is where everyone came to escape from the decay of the San Fernando Valley. It's great here if you can afford it. A two bedroom condo goes for $600,000 and up. Good schools, low crime, etc. All the things that you used to take for granted in California before it started to go downhill. Great location because It's only a twenty minute drive to Malibu and a little over an hour up to Santa Barbara. High percentage of college educated and professionals. Last stand before leaving the state entirely, especially if they overturn Prop 13.

Oak Park is the perfect place to raise a family. It is an extremely safe, well-rounded environment with fantastic public schools. The high school is very well respected as a public school, and students often go on to very good colleges that are very selective. The real estate prices reflect what a sought-after district this is to live in, and how much people will pay to raise their kids here. Oak Park is small, and relatively far from the city, but has things to do and perfect activities for families of all ages. It is a scenic, extremely clean, and safe environment. With hiking trails and parks abundant, it is a dream for an outdoor runner or biker. You drive around Oak Park and see kids safely walking alone with their friends, and many people walking dogs in the early morning.
Oak Park is a wonderful little town in Venture County. I've only lived here for two years, before I lived in Agoura Hills which is right next door. The people who live in Oak Park are nice and polite, the restaurants are lovely, and it only takes fifteen minutes to drive to the beach. While it's not a place to go to for a vacation, it's too small for that, it is a lovely place to live and I'm happy to call it home.
