Bought home and been livin' here for over a year now!
It's a good place for families to move in, schools are awesome, hospitals are great and plenty of jobs around here.
Crime rate is pretty low, Town police is awesome.
Restaurants are good, missing Pakistani and Indian restaurants and grocery stores.
Good Ambience, overall great experience.

I have lived in Oak Lawn my entire life, and found it to be a very peaceful place. I only hear about crimes occurring maybe once every 6 to 12 months, and I have never personally witnessed a crime. I attended Sward and OLHMS, both of which are walking distance from my house, were safe, and have been involved with the community. While I didn’t attend public high school, I know many people who do, and they have had positive learning experiences at Oak Lawn Community High School and Richards, as well as many community and scholarship opportunities. Additionally, there are many different restaurants with varying ethnic backgrounds, there is no shortage of parks, and there are plenty of bowling alleys, ice rinks, etc. It’s never a problem to find something to do, and, furthermore, it’s never a problem to find a place that’s hiring. Oak Lawn is a friendly, involved, and progressive community that I would recommend to anyone, so long as they don’t mind the weather!
We have a well run and well stocked library with helpful staff. The library holds many programs including free concerts through the year. We have professional police and fire departments. Living in a condo complex, we have had several opportunities to interact with the police and fire departments and have had very positive experiences. I was impressed with their level of care. Oak Lawn also has a trauma care center in Christ Hospital. I have elderly parents so we have had ample opportunity to interact with Christ Hospital and again the experiences have been nothing but positive. There is easy access to medical, dental, and vision care. There are many opportunities to help in the community, volunteering in the nursing home or hospital or helping to clean up the park. There are several parks with amenities like a water park, exercise area, tennis and ball courts, and walking trails. It is a very family friendly area.
