Oak Lawn Reviews
I have lived in Oak Lawn my entire life, and found it to be a very peaceful place. I only hear about crimes occurring maybe once every 6 to 12 months, and I have never personally witnessed a crime. I attended Sward and OLHMS, both of which are walking distance from my house, were safe, and have been involved with the community. While I didn’t attend public high school, I know many people who do, and they have had positive learning experiences at Oak Lawn Community High School and Richards, as well as many community and scholarship opportunities. Additionally, there are many different restaurants with varying ethnic backgrounds, there is no shortage of parks, and there are plenty of bowling alleys, ice rinks, etc. It’s never a problem to find something to do, and, furthermore, it’s never a problem to find a place that’s hiring. Oak Lawn is a friendly, involved, and progressive community that I would recommend to anyone, so long as they don’t mind the weather!
The schools here are very nice, as both community high schools underwent construction for their performing arts centers. The quality of these schools have vastly improved, as they have been modernized. Oak Lawn is a community in which everyone feels safe; there are no worries there. The police force is often times friendly. There are lots of opportunities to go and have fun, especially in Downtown Oak Lawn. A Metra train is also offered, connecting this town to the city of Chicago. There is a children's museum as well, which provides a family friendly environment in addition to all the parks. Real estate prices are on the rise due to new construction and modernization projects, which are good for those who already own property and bad for those who don't. Otherwise, Oak Lawn has a vast variety of ethnicities, and it's not hard to find a job or get to your job. I have had nothing but good experiences in this city.
Oak Lawn is noisy, congrsted with traffic and non-stop sirens from ambulances from everywhere going to Christ Hospital. Look at the streets and allys, garbage and filth everywhere. Great if you love eating at crappy fast food joints tho. Very few restaurants serving healthy meals here. And signs about everything every 10 feet. Traffic jams and road construction all season long too. Summer Entertainment planning is redundant, never changes much. Lots of crazies and homeless walking the streets, And many Drunk Drivers around after 4 pm. This town has very little real Class.
