Oak Island Reviews
Oak Island is a nice quiet area to retire in. It has a load of live oaks across the Island, yet walking distance to the beach or intracoastal waterway. Beautiful walks whichever way you go and bicycling at its best. It is starting to become more modern with some nice initiatives by the governing bodies (a new Publix on the Island to open this year 2020) to make it even more amenable to its residents and vacationers. Home prices are better than many beach resorts and the Island has municipal water AND now sewer (no more septic tanks). And for golfers, they have a wonderful public course (Oak Island Golf Club) on the Island. Check it out!
It's a great town with a low crime rate! Locals and tourists alike enjoy the beach which stretches all along its south side. The island is known to be a great spot for small and local businesses to flourish! The island is without a doubt a great vacation spot as well as a town to settle down in.
Oak Island is nine miles of peacefulness forty-five minutes from Wilmington, North Carolina. To the south lies the Atlantic Ocean, whose waves you can hear at night no matter where you are on the island. North has the serene Cape Fear Waterway, teeming with life of both freshwater and saltwater wildlife. With several scenic parks and walkways, Oak Island is a relaxing vacation destination. Being an island, it is also a seafood hotspot including restaurants such as Island Way, Tranquil Harbor, and Oak Island Restaurant. All of which use local seafood caught fresh off our coast. The town also includes several children's parks, a small skate park, and ball fields and Oak Island Jungle golf for family entertainment.
