It's a small, cozy town, but when there's a festival everyone comes out! My favorite holiday is Holland Happening -- a holiday to celebrate the town's Dutch heritage. All the buses are free and they run hourly for most loops. There are several small, health-focused businesses in the downtown area. The only gripe I really have is all the pot smokers. Since it's been legalized, our event areas have been inundated with pot smoke. Hopefully, as time passes though it'll decrease.

Oak Harbor, Washington is a small town located on Whidbey Island, Washington. It rains for a good part of the year, but the summers are gorgeous and sunny. People are friendly, and it seems there are always town events going on. It really does have that small-town atmosphere. Much of the population is military due to the local Naval Air Station, and it brings a lot of diversity into the town. Honestly, this is one of the most beautiful places I've ever lived, and I really do love it here. The only problem is Oak Harbor is a bit isolated. It's on a somewhat small island, and the metro area is at least an hour away. Shopping and entertainment can very limited on the island. However, natural beauty and outdoor activities are not--there is plenty to do if you're adventurous enough! Also, unfortunately, due to the growth of the military base, housing prices are continually rising. Hopefully the town is able to eventually catch up and things even out.
Oak Harbor (on Whidbey Island, WA) is an amazing town! It has a rather large population, but still maintains a small-town feel. There is a Naval Air station on the island, and this makes it so hundreds of people are coming in and out of the city constantly. Although this situation might have a negative effect on other towns, Oak Harbor has only become stronger. We have a tight knit community in this city, and we wouldn’t trade it for the world.
