Newport, NY is located in upstate New York, which is on record for being one of the worst places to live in the whole of the United States. The region is known for the famous Adirondack Mountains and Forest, one the go to vacation locations for residents of down state the includes New York City and Long Island. Because of that during the summer months the area is full of tourists at bring money to the area. But even with this influx of cash the area is still extremely poor. Fortunately though, the standard of living isn't high so low class people live quite comfortably. There are few cities in the region and even fewer shopping centers. Newport is only a small farming village with the population of 600 people, the closest two villages are both four miles away and the nearest cities are twenty to forty miles away. To get anywhere people need a car or public transportation, which is null and void since there isn't any. Over all there's no much to do. One good thing is that there is little to no crime, everybody knows everybody, so everyone is protected. It's a safe and comfortable place to raise kids, but if someone wants to have a life where they can do it all, upstate New York isn't the place to be.
