Really beautiful place to live; a lot of family friendly activities! Weather is beautiful, summer is gorgeous and super enjoyable. I wish they would fix the main roads, but other than that its a picturesque, cookie cutter American Dream city.

I like Northville, been living here since I was in elementary school. Neighborhoods are well kept and clean. There aren’t many crimes and the people, for the most part, are nice. There are some grievances, however. One thing is the lackluster downtown area; there isn’t much to do or anything good about it except that it exists. The school system is nice and all, but there seems to be a rampant drug problem with the high school students that’s completely under the radar. With that being said, the education result is better than any place in Michigan (or even the entire country). There’s also the problem with the large landfill between Northville Twp. and Salem that is large enough to see from over 3 miles away. Most people won’t ever have a problem with it, other than it being an eyesore, but on some days when the wind is just right, the smell will cover the entire city for the coming days.
We shopped for homes here recently. Surprised by initial high asking values, coupled with high property taxes. Some of these same homes were bought for much cheaper during the downturn yet these folks are basically now expecting 30% to 50% more than what they paid. Noticed some of the home prices then dropped quickly. Came to learn of garbage dump in adjoining county to the West which may have a factor in this and yet none of the real estate agents mentioned this to us. Esp with options like South Lyon even though a longer commute we cannot justify these high prices just to get into this city's schools esp coupled with other wild card factors like what this garbage dump may mean to the city's future esp for the neighborhoods on the west side.
