In my town, the police department is very understanding, friendly and easy to talk to. Neighbors and locals are very welcoming of people from various backgrounds. In Northbridge, it seems as if everybody knows everybody. Grocery stores and gas stations are dispersed equally throughout the town, making a quick pit stop very accessible. We also have tons of options between fast food and restaurants. Your friends and family will always be only a couple minutes from you. Northbridge is always making great changes for the community, such as new housing developments, a new turf field for our sports players and building a new school for our children.
Northbridge is an excellent little town full of diversity. The other review stating that anything "fun" is 20 minutes away is just untrue. The town is strategically located between Boston and Providence making it an ideal commuting area. It is conveniently located on 146 just a few exits (10 minutes) away from the shops at Millbury, there is a Walmart in town, several great local restaurants, family owned stores for crafts, bowling, mini golf, a corn maze, farms, Purgatory Chasm for hiking... a lot of options if you simply look around you. Northbridge is definitely on the rise with a lot of developments and new homes popping up. The schools are improving, but still a work in progress. The new elementary school will be finished in 2020. It's a fantastic town, full of opportunity.
Northbridge is a very small town where everything "fun" is two towns away. The best we have for means of entertainment is candlepin bowling. You want to go to the movies or go shopping, you'll have to hop in the car and head twenty minutes to a nearby town for all that. That being said, it fits the stereotypical small town. Everyone here knows of everybody else, regardless of if that means you're on a first name basis or just know of them. Students are taught by teachers who went to school there and with their parents. It's a very safe town where teachers and parents alike remind children what a nice place we get to grow up in and how fortunate we should feel for getting to live here. However, the worst part about this town is the number of townies. People who have a name for themselves because they grew up here, their parents grew up here, and their grandparents grew up here. They seem to find themselves invincible against trouble and running town committees.
