North Wilkesboro is a quaint little town with a lot of potential. There are some great local businesses in and around the downtown area, and the town is continually working to improve itself. There are tons of walking trails and good hiking in the area. The town also works hard to build community, putting on frequent events, especially during the summer. A night life and things to do for the 20 something age range is one weakness, though. North Wilkesboro just needs even more businesses and job opportunities to really take off.

A family friendly area where anyone, regardless of education level, can find a decent paying job. Most residents are people who were born in this town and have lived most of their life here. It is a diverse group of people who come from all walks of life and even some people from around the world. The homes in the area are also affordable and in areas that are close to most of the jobs and stores in this town. The only thing missing is the lack of entertainment especially at night. Most of the people who live here travel to the surrounding towns in order to find entertainment and shopping.
It's not an unattractive place. It's quaint, fine for retirees. But terrible for anyone younger than 30 or 40, even. There is next to nothing to do here, unless your idea of a good time out is hanging out at Walmart or getting addicted to pain pills. The restaurants are okay, nothing special. I get excited when I hear of something new opening up, but it's always just a new place to eat. Nothing new to do. There's also almost no sidewalks. So you can't walk off all the calories you consume from eating so much, because it's all you can do here. My husband and I often drive 1-2 hrs to visit another town just for something to do. It is SO incredibly, mind-numbingly boring here.
