I moved here to take an entry-level professional position. The decision has worked out really well! North Vernon has lots of outdoor recreation nearby, low unemployment (manufacturing, healthcare, ag, and office jobs are available in a thirty minute drive), local pride, and Indy, Cinci, and Lou are all just over an hour's drive.
Like most small towns, people know each other and you get to appreciate each others' quirks, interests, and faults - which is fun if you let it be! There's less to do on weeknights here, but almost always a weekend event nearby (especially in the summer/fall).

My overall experience in North Vernon has been very historical. I have learned about the historical society and the Museum in downtown. Along with many things about the courthouse and older buildings within the town. It's been an overall great experience and lovely historical views/findings!
I have lived in North Vernon my entire life. It is my hometown. I love living here though there is not a lot to do. The few that this town has to offer are the great places to eat on the downtown strip. Restaurants like Hoosier Street bar and grill and A Perfect Day Cafe are great examples of all the great places to sit down and eat. There is also a lot of pizza places around town like Lakeside Pizza where they make the best fire baked pizza and Bigheads Pizza which has been around ever since I can remember. While the night life is not great in this town they do have a few good bars you can go to. My favorite would have to be Phat Guys which is owned by a local. They always have great entertainment for the night and great food. There is also a bunch of parks around the town that are very well kept. North Vernon also has a great police force that is always timely when they are called and show up within minutes of them being called.
