Outstanding location! Close to everything, but not concrete jungle. Very family friendly area with so much to do, great schools, and lots of diversity. A+++
Phenomenal location! Close to everything of interest to our young family of four (i.e., restaurants, parks, library, grocery stores, etc). Our daughter attends preschool at Clairmont Presbyterian, and we love it. The ethnicities are quite diverse here, and everyone is cordial to one another. Only downside is traffic on Clairmont and N Druid Hills, but it’s a fantastic place for both young and old, as well as single and married.
It is the perfect location for me! I love the city, but don't want to be right downtown. It is so convenient to everything!
Great area. Very Diverse with a lot to do. Great restaurants and great nightlife. Overall a very calm environment with low crime.
I’ve lived here most of my life. I consider this to be a safe neighborhood with diverse culture and insight. Affordability unfortunately has become an issue.
County government is corrupt and inept. Taxes are ridiculously high especially when compared to other counties. We don't get what we pay for. The police are understaffed. Code enforcement does not happen. The cities are doing a lot better than our unincorporated community.
We've had to set up our own neighborhood security patrol. Our county force is overworked and under paid. Can't expect them to be every where.
Great tucked away neighborhood in the middle of a major city. Besides the horrible traffic and poor government, great place to live
There have been a few issues near us.
I have been living in this area for 4 years. i really like this place.
I like that we have four seasons - spring and fall are beautiful - and that the very cold parts of winters are relatively short. We may have a snow day or two that shuts down the city, but that's about it. We do go from sometimes having a great deal of rain and wind to very dry weather and problems with beautiful older trees falling. The weather allows a person to spend a lot of time outdoors, walking and gardening, water sports, etc.
I have worked for the government for 32 years, so haven't looked much at the job market. I do see ads for tech jobs.
There is almost everything you need within a couple of miles: dry cleaners (friendly), pet store (friendly and helpful), restaurants, movies (multiplex), great Ace hardware store, Home Depot, shoe repair. In the city of Decatur, there is a variety of good restaurants, yogurt and ice cream shops, public transportation is easily accessible, and there is a variety of single, non-chain stores selling jewelry, art, children's products, etc. I would like some better stores to move into the small mall nearby, but there is a Marshall's, Ross's, Burlington, and Macy's that could expand their inventory a bit.
Not much snow so... not much ice
Houses are for living and we are pretty populated
Best for foot and biking traffic
