Review North Decatur
There is almost everything you need within a couple of miles: dry cleaners (friendly), pet store (friendly and helpful), restaurants, movies (multiplex), great Ace hardware store, Home Depot, shoe repair. In the city of Decatur, there is a variety of good restaurants, yogurt and ice cream shops, public transportation is easily accessible, and there is a variety of single, non-chain stores selling jewelry, art, children's products, etc. I would like some better stores to move into the small mall nearby, but there is a Marshall's, Ross's, Burlington, and Macy's that could expand their inventory a bit.
We pay for a patrol staffed by off duty DeKalb police and that has lowered crime in our neighborhood. If not for that we would not see a patrol car. When we did have the occasional car pass through, they wrote tickets for parking facing the wrong way. This is not a pass-through neighborhood and that's not a relevant issue as it would be on a busy street.
County government is corrupt and inept. Taxes are ridiculously high especially when compared to other counties. We don't get what we pay for. The police are understaffed. Code enforcement does not happen. The cities are doing a lot better than our unincorporated community.
