I have lived in North Charleston for over 10 years. I love that there is a beaches near by and plenty of places to eat and enjoy your family and friends. However if you do not go downtown Charleston there is not much to do. I would like to have small clubs or bars to be able to do something at night besides just eating or going for walks. It would be nice to have a place to listen to music or watch a movie outside. It's nice to do things other than stay at home and be bored. If we had more activities like amusement parks, such as Frankie's Fun Park it could grow to be a better experience then it is now. For most of the activities that we do have we have to travel at least 30 minutes or more to get to them, essentially leaving the North Charleston area. Sometimes you want to stay close to home to go out and enjoy yourself, family and friends. So if someone was to build another amusement park, club or just something entertaining it would be a much better experience for everyone.
The neighborhoods, area shopping, restaurants, accessibity to the lowcountry beachs, the Charleston Food and Wine Festival, Southeastern Wildlife Festival, Credit One Tennis, Charleston Gardens, Spoleto Festivals. The only concern would be more sidewalks and bicycle accomadations.
Where I live is absolutely gorgeous, what with the arching trees bending over roadways and the spanish moss draping from the long, gangly branches but the roads and intersections are in desperate need for more flora both to serve as a deterrent to littering and also to encourage a greener and more ecofriendly environment.
Downtown Charleston is also in desperate need for more accessibility to be given to disabled and impaired people. The lack of ramps along the boardwalk creates a hazard for the blind, elderly, and even the young. It would be a simple fix that would only reap benefits with its implementation.
