I have lived here all of my life. It is has that nice "small-town" feeling. Our downtown area is great! We have a lot of historical buildings that are quite attractive to looks at. I have a lot of good memories of going to the Niles Community Library growing up and having loads of fun there. Even though things do change around Niles, some of the good things stay the same.

Niles is good for a mid to low income family. The schools are not the best, but there are out of township schools that are within reason. The people are Michigan weird but also apparently aware of social norms and expectations. Many of the neighborhoods are very friendly and safe. The drawbacks are the development of the town is very slow in most parts, but all the big stores and shopping centers are within an hour and a half drive.
My experience in Niles, Michigan has been overall good. I like the location of it because I can reach the busy town of South Bend and Mishawaka within 20 minutes. I can also reach the peace of Lake Michigan within 20 minutes. The town of Niles itself could be so much more with little updates and more things to do here.
