After the closure of Maytag Corporation in 2006, the city of Newton lost their major employer and there were many people on unemployment. The town has never really recovered and new businesses brought in do not offer anywhere near the competitive wages that Maytag offered. The town has really suffered and many businesses depended on these working families to keep their businesses afloat.

Essential items in my wardrobe are scarfs, warm winter coat, flip flops & summer clothes. In my area the winters can be long, cold & snowy & the summers are usually hot & humid. During the spring months we usually get a lot of rain & the fall is usually beautiful!
My overall experience of Newton is that it's a great small town where everyone know everyone. The people are nice, their is multiple things to see/do, and supports sports, art, clubs, etc. at the schools. What I see for the future of Newton is hopefully more companies to move in.
