Poor rural Appalachia, but southern hospitality abounds! This is an area with many problems, including corruption, addiction, and poverty. However, the residents are actively and continually improving the town.
Newport is a small town, but a short drive to larger cities around it. I like the easy going friendly people here. I wasn't impressed with the public school system and my children no longer attend public school. As a whole it is a great place to raise a family and live. The cost of living is very low here.
Newport is a small town in Tennessee where families have a simple lifestyle and children grow up wanting to move on to a big city. Newport is the essence of the "small town" in all the country songs. You have a community ready to cheer on the football games on Friday nights, fun rides down a dirt road with your best girl, and a family that is always ready for you to come back home. It is a place for to create your own memories and traditions with country cooking and hometown festivals. There may not seem like a lot to do in this town, but talk to an old feller sitting in a rocking chair outside Cracker Barrel and he will tell you all of his best times that happened in good ole Newport!
