Newland has a lot of great places to eat and shop! The school system is also great. It's a great environment.
It's a nice, quiet community. The landscape is lush. The mountains brush the skies. Though, nothing has advanced or progressed. There is nothing for the younger generation: not a great high school, and nothing to get involved in other than drugs.
Moved to Avery in 2001 with my family. It is a small rural mountain community with not a lot going on, where everyone know each other. This can be a good thing & bad thing. People support each other. It was a great place to grow up though & my family still lives there.
