The convenience of local establishments (gas stations, stores, etc.). Most importantly the state of Delaware is tax-free!
Review Newark
Newark, DE is a great place to live. It is quiet here, beautiful, and the people are friendly. The location of Newark is ideal, as it roughly 10-15 minutes away from the heart of Wilmington, DE, about 45 minutes from Philadelphia, PA, and 50 minutes from Baltimore, MD. It is a nice college town, with a lively main street and locals that harbor a lot of Blue Hen spirit (You should see the packed weekend football games.) I must say however, the public schools could use tremendous reform. They are not good at all. Hopefully, the schools will improve over time. On the bright side, Newark does have a great Charter school that is well worth enrolling your children in the lottery for. Start entering your children's names early (I think that you can start entering names around age 3) and also try to move within a 5-10 mile radius of the school to increase your child's chances of gaining entrance into the school. Overall, Newark, DE is a nice place to live and raise a family.
I really like the Newark area. It if full of diversity and entertainment for both yon and old. The modification made to the local mall, Christina mall, has raised the job opportunities in the area. Also, the mall provides a safe and interesting environment for after work shopping or weekend fun. Newark is home to a beautiful and excellent university. University of Delaware is in a great area for students and local residents. The University itself is very good, with an excellent education in science, engineering, and arts. The area surrounding University of Delaware is home to the nightlife of countless students and residents. Main Street Newark has countless restaurants and entertainment facilities. Newark is an area full of diversity and has many opportunities for fun, wether it be enjoying a good meal or going shopping with friends.
