Newark is nice little city to live and it's very lively around the area, mostly near the university of Delaware campus. There's plenty of food places and clothing stores along the main street of University of Delaware, also places for people who like to enjoy the night life. The two best places for people looking to enjoy the night life are Catherine Rooney's and Klondike Kate's. Both places are nice and lively, the only draw back is that all bars in Delaware close at 1:00am so you have to be there sort of early. Beside that its a nice place to live if your a young person. For older people I'm not so sure it depends on your personality. There is a lot of college students partying during the day sometimes, so if that sort of thing annoys I wouldn't recommend Newark. If your fine with being around a bunch of young college kids its a great place to live.

The convenience of local establishments (gas stations, stores, etc.). Most importantly the state of Delaware is tax-free!
Newark, DE is a great place to live. It is quiet here, beautiful, and the people are friendly. The location of Newark is ideal, as it roughly 10-15 minutes away from the heart of Wilmington, DE, about 45 minutes from Philadelphia, PA, and 50 minutes from Baltimore, MD. It is a nice college town, with a lively main street and locals that harbor a lot of Blue Hen spirit (You should see the packed weekend football games.) I must say however, the public schools could use tremendous reform. They are not good at all. Hopefully, the schools will improve over time. On the bright side, Newark does have a great Charter school that is well worth enrolling your children in the lottery for. Start entering your children's names early (I think that you can start entering names around age 3) and also try to move within a 5-10 mile radius of the school to increase your child's chances of gaining entrance into the school. Overall, Newark, DE is a nice place to live and raise a family.
