Something that I took for granted until I entered high school is New Rochelle's diversity. From an economic standpoint, this city has residents from across Westchester's spectrum, ranging from Scarsdale, America's wealthiest town, to Mount Vernon, a poverty-stricken town with several collapsing school buildings. New Rochelle also has impressive racial diversity, as reflected in the student body of New Rochelle’s public high school, which represents over 60 countries, and 73% of which is comprised by minorities. Being able to experience different customs and viewpoints from foreign cultures has been an exciting aspect of my adolescence. Aside from diversity being a positive factor in my childhood, I know that it will benefit me in college and in careers. As our world becomes increasingly globalized, I believe that New Rochelle is a projection of what most cities and suburbs will look like by the end of the century, a trend that I believe will make our world better off.
I have lived in New Rochelle all my life and I have never looked down on my city. New Rochelle is always growing and is constantly having things added to it to make it an even better community. The diversity within New Rochelle has always made it an even better place to live. Being able to drive through the community and see beautiful sceneries such as lakes and being able to walk through trails that bring you throughout the city is a plus that I enjoy to take advantage of. The school system within New Rochelle is great. They provide so many opportunities to become involved within the community. Sports is a really big thing as well which I can relate to since I am on the team. There is always something to when living in New Rochelle. From having holiday parades to hosting events at public places within the city, New Rochelle is a great place to settle down in which is why I have never left i my city.
