Located in the heart of Bucks County, New Hope is a picturesque small town with plenty to do! Growing up in New Hope, it was common for my friends and me to explore the downtown area or go tubbing along the Delaware River. Everyone knows everyone in New Hope due to its small population, making the town really feel like home. That being said, New Hope is home to a variety of political beliefs and backgrounds. New Hope truly is a great town that is safe and welcoming for families to raise their kids!
I have not personally enjoyed my experience as a resident of New Hope for the past three years. I relocated here after knowing the town from a visitor's perspective as a close knit community with a quirky historical vibe and a vibrant gay scene. I have experienced mostly the contrary, though. Town has been redeveloping in a very imbalanced way, including the facades of the building no longer matching their historical contexts and attracting useless tourist trapping businesses. Town council seems to care more about their pockets than what residents need, as in their decision to green light Odette's. It is a welcoming town for rich, white boomers and their children but there is no room for the middle class to exist here and it definitely shows. I received an icy reception overall from snooty neighbors and my partner and I are constantly "othered" for being gay, especially among our age peers (25-30) who are largely very heteronormative, close minded people. I do not recommend.
Access to Delaware River, hiking and biking along river on Tow Path, access to New Hope borough with all its arts and crafts, restaurants, music, performances and shopping. Access to outstanding historical sites. Outstanding school system. Easy access to NYC and Philadelphia, as well as airports, by car, train or bus. Diversity of cultures.
