The City of New Britain is pretty low class to say the least. I have been living here my whole life (21 years) and worked here for a year, so I would know.
There isn’t much to like in New Britain except for the few people I talk to and my job. There’s also a few decent parks, a mall, and a trampoline park. New Britain is also not that big so it does not take long to travel though. Beside those few reasons that is where the good ends.
There can be so many improvements if the town actually cared enough to look and go through with all the options. The main one regarding schools. The board of education does not follow through with requirements presented special needs students for one example. Another improvement can be about safety. New Britain has an higher than average crime rate. To make that even worse the police response time is not too reliable.

After being born and raised here and lived on both sides of the town I have a full understand of what it’s like. For starters the entertainment is minimal, down town is just a line of Mom and Pop shops and restaurants that rarely have customers. The parks are great thought props to Parks and Recs for keeping it that way. I’ve never had an issue from crime but that statistics aren’t too good (also I’ve lived in the better areas so I don’t have much judgement there) the diversity is good I have a mixed friend group. BUT the taxes increase every year and the public school said are terrible. I went to NB for school from pre-k to 5. It has been getting better I see my younger sibling having more opportunities and more school events, my school (which is different) had a few after school programs. That’s it, all they teach you is CMT stuff everyday. Someone like me with low CMT scores wasn’t much appreciated and since I left to go to a magnet school it’s been a a lot better.
I live in a quite neighborhood and I never had any issues. New Britain is close to many places so you have the opportunity to find job easily. Transportation is offered (buses and fast track). The road in new Britain are sometimes bad and full of holes but I see that there is an improvement on that. The schools are not very good also, and there is some places that are not safe, personally I never had any thing, but I always hear that and I like where I live.
