I have lived in Nevada since I was 5, so it has now been 13 fantastic years. It was the best place to grow up! The public schools are so accepting, low in bullying, high in great teachers, and it's a very short commute as well. Nevada also has a wide range of things to do and places to go, including parks, pools, restaurants, and more! There are 4 playgrounds and a pool, which are absolutely amazing for young children and adults alike. Nevada has many different kinds of restaurants, including Mexican cuisine, fast food, and sandwich shops. There are 3 authentic Mexican restaurants, and the owners are widely known by almost everyone in town. This solidifies the feeling of "small town family", and with less than 7,000 people living in town, it's easy to get to know much of the residents personally. I have had the best experience possible growing up in Nevada, and would recommend this great little town to everyone.
I wish the gas stations were fewer and more consistent. There’s 5 gas stations on Lincoln Way alone, and only 3 of them have been there for more than 5 years. The other two gas stations aren’t working and should be traded out for shops or general stores. It would be really nice if one of those gas stations were a grocery store. The only grocery store is Fareway and it’s way out of most people’s way to get to.
Very quiet, close to shopping in Ames. There are very cute shops, including a donut and ice cream shop and a wedding catering company.
