I'm a disabled vet and used to live in Albany. I moved here close to a yr ago. I like the area. It's clean and peaceful. Being black, I was a bit nervous moving to a virtually all white neighborhood, but to my surprise, I haven't experienced any racism. I gave it 4 stars because there's no public transportation and no mail delivery on my street. Luckily the store is a very short walk around the corner. The people here are friendly and sociable.
No crime to speak of and the post office is a short walk to my house. Ordering things from Amazon is a problem cause I have to walk to pick them up from the p.o. Other than that, it's a nice place to live.

I absolutely love Nassau. It's just far enough off of the beaten path to not have the busy hustle and bustle of the neighboring town of Troy, but close enough to make it to a store in 15 minutes. Walking down my street there's so much wild life, deer, cows, dogs...you name it. Caring neighbors that are close enough to keep an eye on the house every day, but far enough to have your own personal space. My dogs love running through the fields in our backyard and chasing the wild life around here. I love it!
Great place to live and raise a family. Real estate and school taxes are a bit on the high side. Residents range from blue collar to professional to upper class people. Neighborhoods tend to be diverse with some being more diverse than others. It's a place to call home and it serves it purpose for suburban living with close proximity to the city. Crime is low compared to other parts of the country but does have it's pocket of areas that you would not see people walking the streets alone. Some towns (incorporated villages) are policed by their local police departments. These towns pay higher taxes for this luxury.
