I'm a resident of Nanuet for 2 years now.
We moved from NYC and we absolutely love living here. All my neigbors are professional working, middle class families- Alot of them are teachers and police officers and firefighters. Everyone's friendly and rational.

If you're looking for a perfect family friendly neigborhood with great schools and an easy commute to Manhattan- this is the place. I commute to midtown everday and it's 50-60min Coach bus ride to port authority. Parking is easy and free! Nanuet has multiple express bus options PLUS the train to the city!

Nanuet is currently working on revamping the train areas targeting young professional residents to reside.
Its very exciting and it might raise the home values.

As far as living cost, maybe because I'm coming from NYC area- I find that groceries and insurance are cheaper than NYC. Even utility bills are lower than NYC. For me living cost here is much better than NYC and new jersey suburbs!

Growing up in such a small town, it has taught me that people throughout my community really care about one another. In Nanuet, neighbors help neighbors in times of need. People are always looking to give a helping hand to others. This small knit town created a not so small town feel. With busy streets and bustling restaurants and shops, community members don't feel as if we are nonexistent to the outside world. Nanuet is a small town with a big town feel, and creates a sense of togetherness and belonging.
Generally a pretty safe neighborhood, with an adequate amount of shopping/convenience areas. Despite the majority percentage of Caucasian inhabitants, there is still a good amount of diversity in the area.
