West Roxbury is an overall peaceful neighborhood with plenty of restaurants, stores, attraction sites, and community centers. There's easy access to public transportation and parks. The schools are some of the best in Boston. The only downside is that West Roxbury isn't as financially accessible. There are two main groceries stores and both are pricy. It lacks mom-and-pop shops as well as thrift stores.
It’s OK. I’ve lived here for 5 years now If you’re not from The Boston area you should know, the roads are horrible and make no sense. This small town-feeling neighborhood is quiet and residential. It’s safe and pleasant but doesn’t have great access to amenities like parks, restaurants or nightlife. A lot of people that live here grew up here and have never left so it has a provincial feeling. Diversity is lacking but very slowly increasing. I’m a person of color and felt unwelcome in my first few years living here. While Boston is mostly liberal, West Roxbury is perhaps one of the most conservative neighborhoods of Boston.
West Roxbury is a cozy neighborhood located in the confines of the city of Boston. Though it’s within the city, it acts more like a nearby suburb that is desirable to young families and retired couples. Short distance travel to Boston nightlife, attractions, and job/schools!
