Overall a nice place but not sure how the residents (I live in Auburndale) put up with the helter skelter downtown area around Washington Street. The roads are in worse shape than many third world nations, the traffic lights are not properly synched making driving and walking in town an awful and dangerous experience. There is also constant road and utility work, and the rotary and intersections with the Mass Pike that split the town are archaic and unsafe. The negligent elected town and state officials have not made any efforts to upgrade the roads in the 35 years I have been in Newton. Most other Newton Villages are much nicer.

I like all there is to do here. There’s plenty of food places, stores, and schools in the area. It’s very safe, there’s never a day where I’m feeling unsafe or scared to be out and about. Traffic usually isn’t too bad, unless it’s right after school.
West Newton is a walkable family friendly village in the City of Newton. There are neighborhood elementary schools which are walkable and the school system is great.
