I've been living in this neighborhood for almost three years and my experience has been pretty good. Obviously if you live anywhere in Chicago violence is always going to happen regardless of where you live. Besides that, if you are someone who does not like long commute to the store or library then Uptown is for you. There are so many local stores around not to mention the nearby red and purple line train station. The proximity to the lakefront in Uptown is perfect! There's a running and bike trail for the locals or those who just want to get some fresh air. The people in this neighborhood come from all walks of life. The community is very diverse; you'll always see a friendly face when you walk down the street.
I've lived here all my life! I enjoy living here as a teenager. Uptown is known to be one of Chicago's most diverse neighborhoods. Here you can get all types of Asian food thanks to Uptown's Argyle Street, also known as Asia on Argyle. Not just Asian food but a lot of culturally diverse food: Ethiopian Food, Nigerian Food, Mexican Food, etc. I really like living here because during the summer, I could just walk to the beach for a quick swim! My neighbors are really friendly too! From Uptown it's really easy to get to transportation to get anywhere in the city. You can use the Red Line to get to Downtown! You can take the 151 bus to Lincoln Park Zoo! I love living here!
Uptown is an amazing cultural neighborhood to visit and experience what Chicago has to offer. This older side of the city is home to many famous bars and theaters, places once frequented by characters like Al Capone himself! The food here is great and very diverse, with sensational cooks coming from all walks of life. Parks are aplenty and people are everywhere; it is a bussling and productive neighborhood in many respects!
