Truxton Circle Reviews
Rating 3 out of 5 2 reviews
If I had to be honest, I first moved to Truxton Circle after reading the Niche profile of the neighborhood. It had some issues, but nothing out of the ordinary for a major city.
However, after 18 months, as soon as my rent period was up, I moved out ASAP.
Although parts of the neighborhood are quaint and rather pleasant during the daytime, the areas around the major cross-streets and especially along North Capitol St. are hotbeds for mentally-ill vagrants and aggressive panhandlers. After dark, the whole neighborhood can get quite sketchy.
In terms of cleanliness, it can vary, but the disgusting state of East Truxton really stands out. Alcohol bottles/cans, assorted household trash and human feces are not uncommon sites in that area, as are vacant and dilapidated buildings.
If you’re just moving to DC and/or on a budget in the short-term, Truxton might be a worthwhile residence for a year or so, but sooner rather than later, you’ll want to upgrade.

Overall a great neighborhood that is very walkable and has some public transportation options. I do wish there was a grocery store of some kind in the neighborhood
