Very walkable, good access to public transport, nice parks and green spaces. Apartments run a bit higher than average for DC, though the area is mainly family homes.
Plenty of fun places to eat, great access to transportation, there's a great library and several places to buy essentials. Also full of local businesses to support.
Grew up in DC. Love Tenleytown. Went to High School here, work in Tenleytown at a nonprofit. Shopping and my favorite restaurants are here. Getting married in 2022 hope to buy a home and move to the area.
Tenleytown is a great place to be in if you want a residential, suburban feel but still be in the District.
Residential area in the middle of the city with easy access to shops and the metro. If you drive, it is right off of Connecticut Ave NW and Wisconsin Ave NW and close the the Maryland state line.
Very nice area, some good restaurants and very safe. Rather expensive, though. If you are an AU student, there is a free shuttle to take you to the Metro.
Very nice neighborhood, good schools, but I would like to see more shops/locally owned restaurants rather than chains.
Tenleytown is a great place to live! It is close to the metro making it an easy access to downtown DC! Tenleytown has a great selection of dining and useful library! I've never had any issues with Tenleytown besides getting my bike stolen earlier this fall. Around 2:30 Tenley can become a little crowded due to its proximity to a high school. The crowds don't bother me, and they have little impact on my commute to my job or internship! What I love most about Tenley is that it has everything you need, and great study spots! Overall, Tenleytown is a great place to live and has everything you need from a grocery store, library, phone repair shop, best buy, and a Chick-Fil-A!
