South Ozone Park Reviews
This is a great neighborhood! Yes, I am slightly biased in saying this as seeing that I grew up here. It is a very family friendly neighborhood with several schools available within a small distance with playgrounds and track fields for kids to enjoy. Food is available within walking distance with a variety of options from different subcultures. Another great benefit of this neighborhood is the diversity as you see people from all over the world due to the proximity of the airport. One thing that I believe would help enhance this neighborhood is a parking garage due to the amount of people constantly stopping in this neighborhood it has become harder for local residents to be able to park right in front of their own homes.
As a resident for nearly 17 years, it's safe to say that I know the neighborhood quite well. The streets are quite wide on the main avenues, ensuring that you're not liable to bump into many people. The side-streets less so, yet still spacious. As for the chances of actually bumping into people, it's quite low. In fact, the neighborhood is quite calm, and hardly any major event occurs. Would definitely say that it's quiet, but rather than unsettling, it's far more pleasant, as it's still bustling with activity, just more subdued in the night time. As for safety, it falls under the calm part; this is primarily due to the neighborhood being so quiet, that an aura of easiness lingers. All in all, safe neighborhood, quiet, and certainly pleasant.
South Ozone Park is clean and safe for the most part. The average neighborhood is affordable for middle-class income families. Safety is not the best, because there are many thefts that happen from time to time mostly at night. There are also people who disrupt the peace at night with loud music and loud car exhausts. It usually gets very cold in the winter because we are closer to water.
