South Berkeley Reviews
South Berkeley is nice! The residential areas are all pretty, and there are a couple grocery stores and pharmacies. There aren’t too many mom and pop stores left, but there are some. Plenty of trees, many people are very friendly, and you can always see someone walking their dog. It’s close enough to downtown Berkeley and Oakland that you could drive or take the bus/BART anywhere you want.
Usually very safe, and friendly people! All of the people in the area are very conscientious and care a lot about their community. There are great restaurants and public spaces in the area.
South Berkeley is an ideal location for those who want some quiet from the hustle and bustle of Downtown, but would like to stay close to the highway for a quick getaway to neighboring cities. Filled with multiple parks nearby, great for families and sports enthusiast, its a great spot for those who enjoy being out and about. Schools, grocery stores, and night life options are all close by and within walking distance, or a short drive. One thing that could be improved would be the rent prices. Understandably pricey for the Bay Area, it is very difficult to find low income housing.
