I’ve lived in Sherman Oaks for 11 years and it’s a really great area of LA! It’s comfortable, lots of great dining, there is a large park with tons of activities, and it is a great central location to get to so many other areas of LA. BIG downfall is cost of living, like LA, it is pricy. And, it can get really, really hot!
Positives: South of the Blvd/Glen Aire subdivision is and has always been a great place to live with a thriving Jewish community, a safe, clean, robust, affluent area full of gorgeous scenery , and a quaint and quiet vibe for celebs and the fortunate alike near good private schools and full of amenities, great property values, lots of dog-walking, and away from the busier northern suburbs and southern sprawl. Good amount of moderate voters.
Negatives: Not the most family friendly place to grow up, not very neighborly as people keep to themselves, quiet except for the Buckley school traffic and folks cutting through to go to the city. Movie filming can be a hassle as can lots of construction, though it is well kept. Can feel too close to the riff-raff due to the homeless crisis as seen on the Blvd. No community spaces and not an abundant community feel

Like any neighborhood in LA, you have a mix of great food, location, and weather. The neighborhoods are very nice to walk around in and have different types of architecture. Some houses even have those small local library boxes. There is a decent amount of traffic during rush hour so be mindful of that. There is also a growing unhoused population along the main streets.
