Living close to the airport has been beneficial and has had its challenges. The area is known as the “09” or Alamo Heights. This is one of the safer areas in San Antonio but is also one of the older areas. The benefits of the area are of course that it is safe and upscale which keeps the crime rate at a low. Also with every neighborhood comes its down side. The downside of the area is that its over crowded and most of the houses are older and look run down compared to the more modern neighbors. Also with the the old house comes the ridiculous price tag. A house that was built in the 50s still can run well over $600,000 or you can just start from scratch and build a new one!

This area has several great things that we like about it. I will mention a few and I'm pretty sure I will leave many out of my list. There are plenty of activities that are easy to access via several routes. I also, like that we have sports activities for my kids to participate in as well as to be a spectator in. In addition, the park system is outstanding and provides bike trails and many other activities we can partake in. Unlike, other cities this city has two loops (410 and 1604) that make it easy to make yourself around San Antonio. The traffic may get busy at certain times, but the road system is well planned. San Antonio needs to continue improving its roadways as the city population continues to increase.
I love being close to everything! There is plenty of variety in shopping and dining. A great city bus system, and easy access to all major highways. This is the NEISD and in such boasts some of the best schools in town. There are plenty of sites everywhere you go so you don't have to only be referred to downtown. Traffic can get heavy but with all major exits and entrances to major highways easily connected to the vicinity of the airport you will still be on time wherever you go!
