We picked Sammamish, a family-friendly neighborhood with lots of outdoor activities, after looking at Bellevue, Ballard, Redmond, Ravenna, and Skyline. While these are all great neighborhoods, Sammamish's location gives it a sense of quiet connectedness - a little off the beaten path, but very close to everything. And the added benefit of low pollution year-round.
Living on the plateau is a great experience. It is a very safe community. It is a great area for kids to grow up in. There are many shops and restaurants in the area as well. I have enjoyed living here. Everyone is close by and there is usually not bad traffic. The only concern is traffic to Issaquah is poor. The quality of the schools from pre-k to high school are high quality. There are 3 high schools on 228th and I would recommend Eastlake High out of the three. There is a private catholic school as well for middle to high schoolers that has good education if you plan on paying 20k per year. The Sammamish Landing is also a popular place to attend in the summer.
