Parkwood is a very close knit community, that is open to diversity. They have a Civic Association that meets every month to address any neighborhood issues that have arisen. Quarterly at the meetings, the local Police District sends a representative to answer any questions the neighborhood may have as well as address any issues that the police may assist with. The local Councilman who oversees this area of the city always has a representative on location at the meetings to also answer questions and work with the community.
As far as the crime in the area, it is mostly property crime that is conducted by individuals from outside of this community. The adolescent criminal acts such as underage drinking and loitering are a common issue that plagues every community. Businesses, such as Petroski Rehab., Pats Pizza, and Reen's Deli are closely connected with the community in which they operate and serve.

Fantastic neighborhood to raise your family and many adults return to the neighborhood to raise families of their own.
It's a bit of nostalgia to see the generations of families still taking pride in the area that saw them grow up. Things change, time moves on, but the good memories made as children fuel the loyalty to return and recreate the safe place they love.

Parkwood Manor is a very tight knit community. Neighbors know their neighbors. It is a very nice neighborhood. We have soccer/flag-football/softball/baseball/basketball teams at our recreation center. We have several schools and a playground. I grew up in Parkwood Manor so I have seen the changes and expansions to the neighborhood and it just made it even better. I want to let it change on its own when the rest of the community believes it is time for said change
