What I like about Pacoima is everything around me is accessible, for example, I'm able to get my groceries nearby, transportation is available, schools are safe. Neighbors tend to help out each other and be friendly. It's also very diverse but mostly the Latino population has been increasing. Most friends from school live around the area so, it's nice having friends down the street where you're able to hang out with. I've been in Pacoima ever since I was little and now I'm 21, Pacoima is a beautiful place and everyone knows each other. Pacoima will always be my city.
I like that Pacoima allows students to face economic challenges and learn to overcome them, however, overcoming these obstacles is no joke. To be able to pursue a better path than the ones of our neighbor’s and parent’s places so much pressure on an individual but ultimately, it’s worth it. I wish that Pacoima was more connected as a community. We seem to lack that feeling of being there for one another and making sure the people around us are in the best conditions.
Pacoima is a very small city mainly populated by Hispanics. Pacoima is not a very safe neighborhood or influence for young children. There is a lot of violence, robberies, home invasions and car thefts very often. However, despite the ongoing violence there is a lot of help for the citizens because it is mainly a low income community.
