I was born and raised in Pacoima and currently here too. Growing up, I have always had a negative view In Pacoima in reference of safety and home affordability. Living in Pacoima has made me be more conscious and careful of my environment due to the fact there are a lot of homeless people living under the bridges and all the gangsters roaming in there cars. This had made me feel unsecured and scared when i ever I want to take a walk. To add on, in terms of the home affordability, it is bad since most of the people that live here are Hispanic people that earn the bare minimum to only end up paying the rent and bills. Most apartment and homes are rented at a high price which has caused many to move including friends and family into cheaper neighborhoods outside of California. Overall, I wish there to be more innovations that will help the living standards of all in Pacoima.
What I like about Pacoima is everything around me is accessible, for example, I'm able to get my groceries nearby, transportation is available, schools are safe. Neighbors tend to help out each other and be friendly. It's also very diverse but mostly the Latino population has been increasing. Most friends from school live around the area so, it's nice having friends down the street where you're able to hang out with. I've been in Pacoima ever since I was little and now I'm 21, Pacoima is a beautiful place and everyone knows each other. Pacoima will always be my city.
Pacoima is home to many friendly families. The street food is pleasant and it is very bike friendly. Though there are a few issues with trash and homelessness, it is still an alright place to live.
