One of the more central neighborhoods on the eastside, making it super convenient to do things:
- well connected to Bellevue, Kirkland, Sammamish.
- close to Redmond and Bellevue downtown, Bellevue crossroads mall.
- Grocery stores and restaurants 5 minutes away
- Microsoft, Google, FB, Amazon offices are all easy commute. Microsoft is like 2-5 minutes away depending on where you live. Rest are like 5-10 minutes away.
- easy access to freeways, particularly 520 and 405.
- Seattle downtown 20 minutes ride away with a car (car won’t be needed after light rail comes in 2023)
Parks and recreation- plenty of good parks in the neighborhood. Marymoor park is fairly big and hosts concerts and fun activities (it has soccer and baseball fields too)
Has some of the best schools in the area (part of lake Washington school district which is widely known as one of the best).

Schools are split between not great and excellent based on where you live in Overlake. Not a lot of walkable activities for families (have to drive to parks and stores). Very busy roads around most neighborhoods. The bus access is great and the light rail will soon be accessible for this neighborhood. The area seems to cater to young professionals working at Microsoft.
the bellevue/redmond area is a great place to live with lots of access to important things like green spaces, entertainment, and services. it is however lacking in meaningful / healthy places for people under 21 to spend time, and the deforestation of this area in the name of real estate is depressing to say the least (ie. snoqualmie, issaquah). Better (faster, cheaper, more accessible/useful) public transportation is required.
