The police are not around much but they are able to respond quickly.

If an opportunity of a clean and untouched canvas (a truck, restaurant, bridge, underground subway, etc) happened then it would not take too long to taint it. No matter where a person travels in Philadelphia, there will always be one thing that every community has-yes, it is graffiti. This makes it harder for business to function because vandalism can ruin their profit as they continuously clean it. In addition to the vandalism, an unfortunate event happened in a nearby dress shop called "First Fashion". The event involved stones and a window and resulted in a broken window. I'm not sure what clearly happened but I do know it took awhile to fix the damages. Not only was it rude and unjustified to another's property but how the police has done nothing to charge for the responsible person at that moment.

As many activities go unpunished. Of one of my personal experiences, I met 3 'wonderful' men who peed in public grounds where many civilians were walking by. I mean parents, children, elders, etc which could have traumatized them! An overstatement but I felt bad for anyone who witnessed it. The police were never around and the people responsible escaped their consequences.

I also had the lovely chance to meet an unleashed pit bull in my neighborhood. I was almost chased down as a result of the owner's carelessness. I almost got bitten by the dog if no one had assisted me bu I am pretty sure, the police would not have maken it on time as soon s possible.

I would not live in the same area again. First of all, the school district of Philadelphia funds are low and the school's atmosphere neglect a clean, safe, friendly, and educational environment. Students lack the basic life skills and reason after high school therefore leaving them unprepared. For example the difference between a healthy diet and a fast food diet, how to do taxes, apply for loans, understand actions have consequences, and other situations.

The environment is sadly not clean. There is a non-profit organization in Olney called "The North 5th Street Revitalization Project" and they coordinated 3 successful neighborhood clean up-events. Not until a few hours later, the streets became filled with trash again. The neighborhood completed disregard the motto "Keep Philadelphia Beautiful" and it hurts to see all the efforts turn into nothing.
I enjoy living in my neighborhood. I have been there almost my whole life and the block is very community oriented. I know some of my neighbors and they are willing to take me in when I need help. There are some areas of my neighborhood that are a little strange. We have some houses that I would not walk past. And with some crimes that have happened directly on my block, kids can no longer play outside without adult supervision. The area is still friendly enough that they will report if something were to go wrong.
