Northwest Heights Reviews
People love Portland because they think it's weird. When you live here you kind of acknowledge it but it's not really a big deal. It's always funny to see people wander the streets and marvel at everything, you can always spot the tourists. They usually come for the little festivals and events, the scenery (we live close to mountains and the beach), and especially the food. We have great food, lots of things that are sometimes unusual. Visitors can explore the city, go ski, go to the coast, visit wine country, hike, swim in the gorge, kayak, raft... There's lots of outdoor activities here.
Specifically in my neighborhood, Forest Heights, there are a huge amount of large, very nice houses built extremely close together. Most of my neighborhood is fairly expensive but there are opportunities for cheaper housing and opportunities to rent houses.
I enjoy TriMet public transportation. There is a train, street car and bus system that works throughout the city so almost anywhere can be accessed. Biking is a huge mode of transportation in Portland as well. Parking can be a problem sometimes, especially in the city.
