It is a really nice neighborhood, very pretty. It is nice an quiet, conveniently located to everything in Portland. Area is very dog friendly, with lots of cafes and restaurants. Very walkable.

I like my neighborhood because I can walk to everything I really need. There are grocery stores, clothing shops, gyms and yoga studios. However, the main shopping area in my neighborhood was once primarily "mom-and-pop shops" and is now being taken over with stores like Urban Outfitters and Crate and Barrel. Even in the three years I've been here, I've seen it change. My neighborhood is also a popular place to come to shop and becomes very busy and less pleasant on the weekends. I try to stay in or go to another neighborhood on Friday and Saturday nights. I try to support the locally owned shops that still exist, but I'm afraid that the corporate take-over is inevitable.
Lots of homeless people who are somewhat noisy at night but mostly harmless. The most common crime seems to be broken car windows - never leave anything valuable or that looks like a purse/backpack in plain sight and you'll be fine.
