Northridge is a homey city nestled in the Los Angeles Valley. There’s a nice college, large mall, costco and it’s simple to navigate to any of the highways. At night however I’ll dock one star. For some reason I get a weird feeling walking my dog. It could be the graffiti on the sidewalks. Or garbage cans being knocked over. However, like I stated, it’s a homey town, and very lively. There’s nothing to worry about it’s just a little off putting. If you need something to do head to the roller skating rink or check out some of the new Korean corn dog shops that are popping up everywhere. Also the newest addition is the Porto’s location. If you go around 8:30am you’ll be in line no matter what day of the week. Northridge is a cool city. Lots of young adults, plenty to keep you busy and my dog likes it here; so why don’t you come check it out and see for yourself!
I moved to Northridge three and a half years ago. I love it here. It has everything I need! From schools, gyms, and shopping, to restaurants, public transportation, parks, and medical centers. I love how it is a big city with a small suburb town feel. I think that homeless is a growing concern in the area; however; the city as a whole is kept rather clean and safe. The people in Northridge are friendly and diverse. The cost of living is adequate for the area it is in. I would love to see more community building events throughout the year. I enjoy the many options for food and dining; however, I would like to see more bars in Northridge so that young adults are not traveling far to indulge in adult beverages. Other than that, I have loved Northridge and don’t plan on moving anywhere else.
I’ve been living in Northridge for over a year now and what I can say is that if you are living in a gated community “house neighborhood or gated apartment”, you will feel very safe here. I almost never have to see strangers, I know most of my neighbors so I don’t worry much about danger, I’ve even left my garage open and door unlocked a handful of times for a day and have come back to nothing stolen or broken which is a comforting feeling. Very Canadian lol. Diversity is great “in my neighborhood it’s actually mostly Black and Asian and Hispanic, which now that I’m thinking about it, I’m just realizing lol. But the white people here are cool too. The valley is definitely hotter by 20 degrees than the city so if you don’t like sunshine, this ain’t the place for you. I don’t have kids so can’t speak much to that but almost all of my neighbors do. All in all, I’ve loved living here for the past year, and can recommend!
