Northeast Tacoma Reviews
Rating 3.8 out of 5 45 reviews
Although there's some negatives to living here such as violence, homelessness, drug use, and gun violence, it's still home for me. There's a big sense of community here, and a lot of diversity too. Schools here are a bit underfunded, but teachers will still be there to help. There are also resources for health/childcare provided if needed.
This is a very quiet and safe neighborhood with a small town feel. We've lived here for 7 years, and there have been no crimes that I know of in our neighborhood. Lots of families with small children, as well as seniors. Beautiful views of the water and mountains. It's midway between Federal Way and Tacoma, so it's a 10 minute drive from any time of shopping or service you might need. People take care of their houses and front lawns. Note: many of the critical reviews here are for Tacoma in general, and not for NorthEast Tacoma (this neighborhood), which is a world apart from the dingy areas of Tacoma.
It's a "decent" area to live in there are elementary schools and middle schools nearby for those who have kids, but with that, you have to beware of pedophiles and sex offenders living in the area. In addition, while this area is the suburbs there have been quite a few of alarming crimes in the area such as a hostage situation that took place near my house about a couple of years ago.
