My husband and I wanted to buy a home in Midtown, but were totally priced out. We ended up buying in Oak Park at the beginning of 2018, and I can honestly say I don't miss living in Midtown. Oak Park is so close to the City core, I bike to work in Midtown every day and we often bike to Midtown bars on the weekends. I love walking to the shops and restaurants on Broadway on nights and weekends and there are summer time festivals that are really fun to go to. Everyone I've met in the neighborhood has been super friendly and we haven't had any issues with theft or anything else dangerous. It goes without saying that some of the houses in the neighborhood are run down, but it seems like every week there are homes in my neighborhood being renovated. I am especially excited for our home value to go up as the Aggie Square project unfolds over the next few years. Overall, I love my neighborhood!
I love this neighborhood! The community is very active and there are lots of fun events. Great coffee shops, restaurants, and a farmer's market.
There are a lot of great restaurants in Sacramento and in particular where I live. Being so close to downtown, there are plenty of nightlife and eating options. My favorite place to eat downtown is Pizza rock, they have amazing pizza and a wonderful atmosphere. My favorite pizza is their Gold Cup Winner pizza (The pizza championships 2008 in Leece, Italy); the crust is buttery and it is drizzled with balsamic vineger, which pairs perfectly with the tomatoes. They are located next to several bars, one of them being the quite popular Dive Bar. They have fish tanks and their main attraction is their mermaids.
