A nice quite middle class family oriented neighborhood. It is growing in diversity and amenities. Though it remains one of the few DC nieghborhoods without any apartment complexs. Most homes are family owned, some are rentals all are generally well maintained. Most homes have parking and yard. Neighbord are friendly, helpful and quite. Lower grade schools are safe, warm, happy and improving academically each year. There are a few different good high school options in the city. DC Community College is nearby. There are community events throughout the year aND actvities at the NMP rec. center. Good location for access to buses and Fort Totten (yelow, green red) & Brookland (red & commuter busses) metro. As well has resturants, shopping and rec center in Ft. Totten & Brookland. Having active political community members helps keeping things up and getting attention when there and are any issues.

I do appreciate North Michigan Park as a wholesome and quiet neighborhood to live. Historically people of African American descent have populated the houses, it is an exclusively residential neighborhood though. While there are new developments in the area, considering the cost of travel, Lack of affordable organic/ Healthy dining options, or immediate public gathering places except say the Recreation Center it is lacking features many areas of DC with more diverse populations seem to horde from low income sections of Washington DC; such as most of NE and SE.
Great place to live but I would love to see healthier food options offered in our community. The neighborhood is being gentrified so I hope they do not kick residents that have lived here their entire lives out. This already is happening in the Brentwood, Rhode Island, and NOMA area which is very close to Michigan Park.
