North Austin Civic Association Reviews
I've lived in North Austin since 2007, in various neighborhoods in the area. Watching this part of town grow and evolve over that time has been interesting and generally a good experience. New amenities in shopping and entertainment have allowed residents to stay closer to home rather than fight the ever-more-unpleasant Austin traffic downtown, while retaining the rich diversity of cultures present here. I hope that this area can continue to grow while avoiding some of the gentrification issues that other areas of Austin have faced.
North Austin is a diverse, accessible and safe neighborhood. People are friendly and look out for one another. There are an abundance of quality restaurants, especially Asian and Mexican cuisine. It is easy to get to downtown Austin, the airport and Lake Travis from this part of town, making it ideal for those who want to take part in Austin's attractions.
The crime and safety is an important issue in this area and I believe their should be more police monitoring this area where I live. I live right off of a main hwy and a well traffic neighborhood road, and there have been instances where people have had their cars broken into, including mine. There are not that many street lights so we had to purchase more outside lights off the carport and purchase an alarm so that we knew our cars were secured and protected by intruders.
