The environment is great for young professionals with a great downtown environment, lots of restaurants and activities, access to the train and NYC, and Stamford one of the safest cities in America. Many people wish the schools were better or would get better. As young people start having kids they have to move away because the school system is on the low-end. An underlying issue is the cost of living in Fairfield County is outrageous with average monthly rents in Stamford at $2,700 for 2015.

Living across the street from the police station and on one of the most active streets in the city gives me peace of mind that the police are aware and present. There are the usual pan handlers and homeless people here or there but there are so many other people that its never an issue. Stamford is considered one of the safest cities in America.
The Stamford Downtown area has a great variety of different types of food (ranging from American grill to Spanish, Indian, Italian, Mediterranean, etc.), and different ranges of pricing. I would recommend checking out the restaurants in the Bedford Street and Summer Street areas, as well as the newly developed Harbor Point in the South End
