There is great potential for growth. It has a young atmosphere with local coffee shops, boutiques, and concert venues. It is definitely becoming gentrified, and it isn't necessarily a bad thing. Compared to everywhere else in the country, it can be compared to a rising San Francisco. Everything is convenient and caters to locals.

There have never been any major crimes in my neighborhood. Just the occasional homeless person camping on the corner. I live in the downtown/midtown area so it is to be expected. Graffiti does occur but is usually taken care of right away.
There are lots of serving, bartending and bussing jobs. There are state jobs as well, but they are very competitive. There are also government jobs at the Capitol but most require experience or a college degree.
