I love the city in which I live, although the weather is sometimes too warm for me. I love the Southern California vibe because it is laid-back and the people are very nice! Although the public transportation is not the best, having your own car is very common and therefore easy to get around if you have your own vehicle. I live approximately 20 minutes away from the beach, so I visit the ocean frequently. San Diego is a large, busy city, but has a comforting feel to it and is pleasant for visitors and natives alike.
There are little shopping centers every two miles, providing a wide range of services and merchandise. A few months ago, I came across a little "hole-in-the-wall" sushi restaurant that serves delicious, cheap, and high-quality dishes. Next door is an ice cream shop and a Gold's Gym -incase you need to work off that sushi and ice cream. The most interesting mom-and-pop shop that I've come across in these cozy shopping centers was a hula school!
We love our neighborhood! Our neighbors were friendly when we first moved in and are friendly now. We are close to a community college so there is a lot of young people who park on our street. It is great to see them focusing on their education and paying attention to the parking requirements. Many residents walk their dogs daily and we also have a great walking track.
